villa mit rheinblick

based on the inhuman defensive architecture, the »villa mit rheinblick« [villa with a view of the rhine] is the counterpart to the offensive architecture.
following its consequence of organizing the city in a more inviting way, the stairs of the »oberkassler rhine bridge« were whitewashed and a public living space was made visible using a curtain, which renegotiates non-places in terms of needs, housing shortages and city ownership; between private and public space.

offensive/defensive architecture

contrary to »defensive architecture«, which produces delimiting spaces and creates a hostile urban space through spikes, grids and surveillance cameras, the term »offensive architecture« was defined as a counterpart whose opposite ambition is to re-establish an inviting space of encounter in the city.
